Black Cable TV Ratings for Week of Dec. 12 - 18
On cable, football makes way for reality as 'Housewives,' 'T.I. & Tiny' top chart
(December 27, 2011) In a rare viewing shift, black households demonstrated a preference for cable's reality drama over NFL action in the second week of December. Bravo's "Real Housewives of Atlanta" took the No.1 spot of the Top 25 cable shows among black viewers, and VH1's "T.I. and Tiny" went head-to-head with Monday Night Football and won second place by 300,000-plus viewers.
The most watched cable network for the week in black homes was VH1 with 5.7 million for four shows. Brave came in second with 5.5 million across four of its chartmaking programs. TBS finished in a rare third with 4.8 million also for four shows.
Nielsen recorded a total audience of 27.9 million watching the Top 25 cable shows, representing a 15 percent decline from the previous week.
