African-American spirits firm to launch its signature liqueur Carnivo XO
(December
21, 2005) Carnivo Unlimited, LLC, the first African-American company to
exclusively import Cognac into the U.S., will launch its signature brand
Carnivo XO in January 2006.
The Los Angeles-based Carnivo Unlimited has successfully test marketed its
products and is now ready to enter the marketplace. Maurice Moore, who has
30 years of liquor experience with Seagrams, is the firm's President and
Darius Farrelly, who has extensive experience in grassroots promotional
programs, is Vice President Marketing will oversee the sales and marketing
efforts.
The company has developed Carnivo XO as a tantalizing mix of award-winning
Menuet XO Cognac, silky smooth French vodka, and a proprietary tropical
berry flavor mix. The flavor profile is designed to maintain its
consistency over ice, and the aroma is designed to be highly distinctive.
Its marriage of quality ingredients renders Carnivo XO as a remarkably
luxurious and smooth creation. The union of these ingredients supports
Carnivo XO as truly being A celebration in every sip, a party in every
bottle.
Carnivo Unlimited is the exclusive importer of Menuet Cognac in the
Americas and Mexico. The Menuet family has been producing Cognac for over
150 years with a portfolio that includes XO, VSOP, VS and Hor D'Age. The
company proudly points out that Menuet Cognacs are among the few cognacs
marketed in the U.S., in which all of its marques are made from 100%
Grande Champagne Region 1st Cru grapes.
The Cordial category of the US spirits market is showing substantial
growth, increasing 3.9% in 2004, and surpassing the 20 million case mark.
The growth is driven by new product launches that feature innovative
flavors, through line extensions of existing products, and today's
pervasive cocktail culture. The category is projected to grow by 3.3% per
annum over the next five years.

'Buying Power' report shows black consumers spending more on home life
As the American economy continues to move sluggishly,
African-American households are curtailing their spending in many
categories, including food, clothing and basic household items, while
investing more in home repair, home entertainment and consumer
electronics. Although they are trimming back, black consumers are still
spending more than their white counterparts on most of these products.
According to the newest edition of “The Buying Power of Black America”
report, African-American households are tightening their belts when it
comes to dining out, expanding their wardrobes, and leisure activities out
of the home. At the same time, they are increasing their spending on home
