Network launches Africa Box Office channel featuring African, Caribbean
movies
(December 16, 2012) The DISH Network has announced that it has launched
Africa Box Office, an Afro-Caribbean movie channel. ABO is broadcasting
movies exclusively from Nollywood, the prolific Nigerian film industry
and other major African and Caribbean motion picture houses.
ABO is the largest Afro-Caribbean content aggregator for television in
North America, broadcasting over 150 new movies per year, eight movies
everyday and three premieres every week. With a growing catalog of more
than 1,500 African and Caribbean movies leveraging the Afrotainment
Family of Channels, ABO has access to popular content and consistently
delivers the best African and Caribbean films.
ABO is currently available on channel 9868 in DISH Network Pan-African
Bouquet programming package, which also includes three other channels
from the Afrotainment Family featuring reality series, talk shows,
sitcoms, dramas, late night comedy and music.
The Afrotainment Family of channels is a New York-based network of six
television channels dedicated to broadcasting the best Afro-centric
content for the highly coveted African-American communities in North
