(November,
23, 2007) CodeBlack, the first vertically integrated African-American
owned film studio and multi-faceted entertainment conglomerate, has
entered into an exclusive poster licensing agreement with Trends
International, LLC., the leading publisher and manufacturer of licensed
posters, calendars and craft activity kits. The deal was brokered by
Chicago, IL based licensing agency, TurnerPatterson; the first deal under
TurnerPatterson's strategic partnership with CodeBlack.
CodeBlack first announced their partnership with TurnerPatterson in May
2007, when they selected TurnerPatterson as the exclusive merchandise
licensing agency for the CodeBlack brand and their film releases. The
partnership is designed to analyze product licensing opportunities in all
categories of interest in the urban marketplace. "We are extremely excited
about the partnership between Trends and CodeBlack," said Debra Turner,
CEO, of TurnerPatterson. "This is a great first step in CodeBlack's long
term strategy to develop consumer products targeting the urban
entertainment audience."
The companies are focusing on categories including: home, financial
services, mobile entertainment, internet technology, apparel, music, toys
and home entertainment appealing to African-American families, from men
and women to teens and children. The posters will be available beginning
in 2008 in major retail outlets including Wal*Mart. The newly formed
licensing division plans to continue to build on the CodeBlack lifestyle
brand in the entertainment community as well as reach out to a larger and
diverse section of the population.
Says Jeff Loeser, Vice President of Licensing of Trends International,
"We're very excited to be associated with CodeBlack. Their slate of films
offers a nice variety to our poster assortment and is a great fit for our
distribution channels."
"We are truly looking forward to entering into this relationship, which we
are confident will resonate with current CodeBlack loyalists, as well as
introduce film enthusiasts from all walks of life to the CodeBlack brand,"
says Jeff Clanagan, President and CEO of CodeBlack
