Novartis
names Michelle Gadsden-Williams to diversity post
(November
21, 2005) – Novartis Pharmaceuticals Corporation (NPC) recently announced
the appointment of its first African American Executive Director,
Diversity & Inclusion, Michelle Gadsden-Williams.In this position, Gadsden-Williams provides strategic direction, leadership and development of an inclusive environment by integrating diversity practices into all aspects of the business. In addition, she is Co-Chair of the internal Executive Diversity Council, initiated several affinity and networking groups and developed Diversity Training Curriculum for the company. Prior to joining Novartis, Gadsden-Williams was most recently at Merck, where she held various positions in diversity, talent development and staffing. She also held several positions in Human Resources and Product Management in consumer goods. Gadsden-Williams holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Marketing and Bachelor of Arts degree in Communications from Novartis Pharmaceuticals Corporation researches, develops, manufacturers and markets leading innovative prescription drugs used to treat a number of diseases and conditions, including central nervous system disorders, organ transplantation, cardiovascular diseases, dermatological diseases, respiratory disorders, cancer and arthritis.
