Cable TV Ratings for Week of November 5 - 11
Cable news networks try to hold on to Black voters gained during
election coverage
(November 16, 2012) More than 30% of the viewing time of Black cable
watchers during the first week of November was, not surprisingly, for
Presidential election coverage. CNN and MSNBC are now hoping to keep
those 13 million viewers engaged in their regular line-up of primetime
hosts. Laurence O'Donnell showed signs getting some traction with
African-American households before the last days of the campaign.
CNN was the most watched among the cable networks, with 6.8 million
across three election programs. VH1's reality fare drew 5.5 million
viewers to four shows and second place. MSNBC claimed 4.7 million for
five of its shows.
According to Nielsen data, 31.5 million Black viewers watched the Top
25, which was only a one percent drop from the previous week.
