TV One adds more than one million new households this fall

(November. 13, 2006) TV One will add more than one million new households this fall when it launches its service on Time Warner cable systems in Milwaukee, Buffalo and Los Angeles; and Comcast systems in San Francisco and the entire Bay Area, Albuquerque, Los Alamos and Santa Fe, NM. The entertainment and lifestyle channel for African-American adults now reaches 4.5 million cable subscribers.

"We are delighted to expand our carriage in these key markets and appreciate both Comcast and Time Warner's continued support of TV One," said TV One Executive Vice President of Affiliate Sales and Marketing Brad Samuels. "We look forward to working with all of these systems so they can take advantage of TV One's unique marketing opportunities that can help them connect with their adult African American customer base."

TV One also announced several recent local ad sales launches, including Cox Media in Baton Rouge, LA, Herndon, VA, Pensacola, FL and Ft. Walton Beach, FL; Comcast Spotlight in Nashville, Baltimore, Jacksonville, FL and Savannah, GA; and Charter Communications' St. Louis system. Local ads are now being sold on TV One in 17 markets, on systems serving more than 4.5 million subscribers.

"The response to local ad sales on TV One has been remarkable," said TV One Local Ad Sales Manager LaTanya Butler. "We are very pleased that both operators and their ad sales clients have seen the value and been able to capitalize so quickly on TV One's ability to reach the adult African American community."

Latest 'Buying Power' report shows black consumers spending more on home life

As the American economy continues to move sluggishly, African-American households are curtailing their spending in many categories, including food, clothing and basic household items, while investing more in home repair, home entertainment and consumer electronics. Although they are trimming back, black consumers are still spending more than their white counterparts on most of these products.
