UPN gets spooked on Halloween with loss of Monday night dominance

(November 10, 2005) UPN got tricks and no treats on Halloween as its domination of Monday night went out the door with parents escorting kids in costumes. Apparently dads stayed behind, as ABC “Monday Night Football” pulled in a 15.6 rating and just over 2 million black households to take the top spot for the second consecutive week.

Thanks to Thursday’s “Everybody Hates Chris,” UPN was able to place one show on the chart, and in second place. CBS was the beneficiary of UPN’s loss, with five of its shows making the top ten in black homes for the first week of November. ABC followed close behind with four, including newcomer “Grey’s Anatomy.”  The impact of Halloween drove down overall viewing for the top ten, making it the second week of lost viewers. The 17.2 million homes watching represented a 6.4 percent loss over the previous week.
