Lagrant Communications
adds five new accounts to its growing client roster
(November 9, 2006) Lagrant Communications has announced that it has added
five new accounts to its client roster from the tourism, education, health
and non-profit sectors. The new clients are The Bahamas Ministry of
Tourism, Hampton University, Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services,
Friends of Arroyo (FOTA), and the League of Black Women.
In its role as the agency of record for The Bahamas Ministry of Tourism,
LC will create a public relations campaign aimed at targeting the African
American consumer market and establishing the Caribbean island as the
choice destination for tourism, financial investments and meeting venues.
Hampton University, a leading Historically Black College & University,
retained LC to develop a proactive media relations campaign to highlight
the university’s key programs.
LC will also join Weber Shandwick to handle Centers for Medicare &
Medicaid Services’ reputation management and its outreach efforts under a
five-year contract targeting the African American consumer market.
Friends of Arroyo signed with the agency to launch a strategic crisis
management campaign to save a historical house designed by architect Paul
C. Williams from being uprooted from the City of Pasadena in Calif.
For the League of Black Women, LC will implement a national media
relations campaign to raise the visibility of the’s association’s findings
of its Leadership Survey Report and help the organization to sell the
report to businesses, academic institutions and media outlets.
Additionally, LC will generate national media attention to advance the
League’s reputation as the premier leadership research organization for
black women leaders and increase its membership enrollment.

'Buying Power' report shows black consumers spending more on home life
As the American economy continues to move sluggishly,
African-American households are curtailing their spending in many
categories, including food, clothing and basic household items, while
investing more in home repair, home entertainment and consumer
electronics. Although they are trimming back, black consumers are still
spending more than their white counterparts on most of these products.
