Fifth Annual
African-American Magazine Summit to be held in New York next week
(November 9, 2007) Magazine publishers, marketing and advertising
executives will convene in New York City next week for the Fifth Annual
African-American Magazine Summit presented by Target Market News. The
all-day conference will take place at the Time & Life Building in New York
City on Friday, November 16.
“This is the industry’s only symposium that looks at the developments and
marketing opportunities taking place among the African-American
magazines,” said Ken Smikle President of Target Market News. “There are
more than eighty existing magazines targeting black readers that receive
ads from national advertisers. This is an important event for marketing
and media professionals who want to learn more about the role black
magazines play in tapping into this $744 billion market.”
The Summit will offer panels examining the latest research and trends in
advertising, acquisitions and start-ups; alternative circulation
strategies; untapped business development opportunities and more. Among
the companies represented by the panelists are Carol H. Williams
Advertising, Essence Communications, Footsteps Group, Johnson Publishing
Co., Media Economic Group, NV Magazine, On Wheels Inc., Uptown Magazine
and Vigilante Advertising.
“This is a rare opportunity for publishers and marketing professionals to
exchange ideas with one another, and to network with those that have
experiences similar to their own,” said Smikle. The Summit is sponsored by
Time Warner, The Coca-Cola Company, BlackPR.com and The Magazine
Publishers of America.
Pre-registration is required for admission to the Summit, and the
registration fee is $199 per person. For further information and to
