Black Cable TV Ratings for Week of October 27 - November 2
NBA season begins and cable viewing in black households jumps 25%

(November 6, 2014) Though "Monday Night Football" is still king on cable in black households, the return of the NBA basketball season has a much bigger influence in pulling black viewers away from network TV. In the same week that black viewership dropped 12 percent for the Top 25 broadcast TV shows, cable's top programs jumped 25 percent in audience.

ESPN was the most watched cable network among the Top 25 cable favorites, with 9.2 million viewers across seven shows. TNT continued the sports themed-viewing with 4.4 million for four games. In third was the OWN network posting 3.1 million for three programs.

The total number of viewers for the Top 25 cable shows in black homes, according to Nielsen, was 29.1 million.
