Carl
Anderson named VP, music programming for ABC Radio Networks
(November 3, 2006) ABC Radio Networks has named Carl Anderson to fill the
newly created position of vice president, music programming. Anderson will
be leaving his program director position at ABC Radio’s Smooth Jazz WJZW
Washington to take the new assignment in Dallas.
Anderson will be responsible for ABC’s nine 24-hour formats, eight
format-specific production libraries and weekly music shows including “
American Country Countdown with Kix Brooks,” “Dick Bartley's Rock & Roll's
Greatest Hits” and “Flashback with Bill St. James.”
“This is a programmer’s dream come true,” said Anderson. “I get to work on
not one, but nine amazing formats. What a blast to be part of the ABC
Radio Networks team and work with some of the best talent in the
business.”
Anderson will report to John McConnell, SVP, Programming, ABC Radio
Networks. “Choosing Carl to take us to the next level was easy,” said
McConnell. “He’s one of the best music programmers in the business and has
an innate sense of what works now, and what’s coming around the bend in
the way of audience interest.”

'Buying Power' report shows black consumers spending more on home life
As the American economy continues to move sluggishly,
African-American households are curtailing their spending in many
categories, including food, clothing and basic household items, while
investing more in home repair, home entertainment and consumer
electronics. Although they are trimming back, black consumers are still
spending more than their white counterparts on most of these products.
