National Black Public Relations Society holds 2015 Power PR Summit Oct. 30 in D.C.

(October 25, 2015) The National Black Public Relations Society (NBPRS) Inc. is honoring leaders in PR excellence as a part of its 2015 #PowerPR Summit, which convenes Friday, October 30 at the Dupont Circle Hotel in Washington, D.C.

The 2015 Network Awards Luncheon honoring professionals exhibiting excellence in the industry advancing diversity and empowering our communities will take place 12 p.m.-2 p.m. on Friday, October 30 at the Dupont Circle Hotel Glover Park, 1500 New Hampshire Ave., NW, Washington, D.C.

The 2015 Network Awards Luncheon honorees include:

- The Pat Tobin Lifetime Achievement Award: Julia Wilson, CEO and Founder, Wilson Communications
- Mover & Shaker Award:
- Janaye Ingram, National Executive Director, National Action Network
- Zing Shaw, Chief Diversity & Inclusion Officer, Atlanta Hawks
- J. Ivy, Grammy Award Winning Poet & Speaker, Dear Father Letters Campaign
- Ofield Dukes Educators Award: Alysia Burton Steele, Pulitzer Prize Winning Photographer and Assistant Professor, University of Mississippi

NBPRS, Inc., the foremost organization for image-makers and brand strategists, is holding this one-day, invitation-only summit, as an off-the-record discussion to help set the direction for the future state of the organization -- and the industry.

Representatives from major corporations, organizations and agencies, including Coca-Cola, Golin, Atlanta Hawks, Safeway, Walmart, Mitchell Communications Group, Edelman and the PR Council, will participate in strategic roundtable discussions. They, along with NBPRS board members, will discuss and develop specific actionable solutions to help increase diversity, focusing on mid-career practitioners across the industry and agencies. They also will look to create strategies to strengthen competencies and increase opportunities for black-owned businesses.
