THE LATEST NEWS

The Week of Oct 17-23
'Girlfriends' makes it four weeks in a row as the No. 1 show

(October 26, 2005) “Girlfriends” gave UPN the number one spot for a record-setting fourth week in a row during the third week of October. The comedy even managed to improve slightly on its previous week’s numbers with a 18.3 rating and 2.41 million black households. The women’s rivalry with “Everybody Hates Chris” seemed like less of a classic battle as the Thrusday night newcomer slipped to fourth place behind UPN's Monday night regulars, “Half And Half” and "All Of Us” in second and third respectively.

The remaining lineup was much a repeat of the previous week. UPN had six winners overall. ABC’s “Monday Night Football” drew its usual 1.8 million homes. Alfre Woodard appears to be delivering consistently for “Desperate Housewives,” which also had 1.8 million homes. Thanks to a tie for tenth place, CBS added “CSI: Miami” to the list, thus remaking this week’s list into the top 11 of the top ten. Overall, the number of black homes viewing the first ten shows on this week’s list was virtually identical to the previous week’s 19.54 million.
