Black Cable TV Ratings for Week of October 15 - 21
Second Presidential debate gives cable news channels a boost with Black viewers

(October 24, 2012) The much anticipated second Presidential debate had more Black viewers flocking to cable news channels than the first face off. A total of 66 million watched President Obama and Gov. Romney tackle questions from CNN's Candy Crowley. Nielsen recorded that 10.1 million Black viewers tuned in, more than half of them through cable.

VH1 was the most watched cable network in Black homes, with 4.5 million tuning in three of its Top 25 shows. MSNBC barely beat out CNN as the second most popular cable network, with each drawing 3.5 million and 3.1 million respectively.

Nielsen recorded a total of 25.9 million Black viewers for all the Top 25 cable shows, a drop of 13% from the previous week.
