CBS hangs on to
No.1 with CSI: Miami; CW’s five black shows all make Top 25
(October
24, 2006) “CSI: Miami,” which usually finishes in the top five, let CBS
maintain its No 1 position for a second consecutive week. The show was the
network’s only entry among the top ten favorites, but it was one of seven
shows that made CBS the week leading network on the Top 25 chart.
The second week of October brought good news to the CW network. The move
to Monday from Sunday for its “black block” is giving the new network some
success. "Girlfriends" posted a second place win, and for the first time,
all five of its popular black programs made the chart, including
“Everybody Hates Chris.”
The network scorecard gave ABC five winners ad FOX and NBC had four each.
The total number of black households watching the top 25, according to
Nielsen media Research, was 34.2 million, an increase of 1.7 percent over
the previous week.

'Buying Power' report shows black consumers spending more on home life
As the American economy continues to move sluggishly,
African-American households are curtailing their spending in many
categories, including food, clothing and basic household items, while
investing more in home repair, home entertainment and consumer
electronics. Although they are trimming back, black consumers are still
spending more than their white counterparts on most of these products.
