Seven honorees to receive awards at Target Market New's 2016 MAAX Summit Nov. 14th in Chicago

(October 21, 2016) Target Market News has announced that the 17th Annual Marketing to African Americans with Excellence (MAAX) Summit will take place on Monday, Nov. 14th, 2016 at the Hyatt Magnificent Mile Hotel in downtown Chicago. The theme for this year's gathering is "Change the Conversation," with presentations that offer a new perspective on the Trillion-Dollar Black Consumer Market.

The all-day MAAX Summit is one the industry's largest annual gatherings of African American marketing, media and research professionals. Among the companies that will offer the newest statistics, trends and analysis on the African American Economy are Nielsen, IHS Polk Automotive, the U.S. Census Bureau, and Target Market News, among others. The Platinum Sponsor of the 2016 MAAX Summit and Awards is Toyota and the Presenting Sponsors are AARP and Carol H. Williams Advertising.

"There has been a dramatic shift in the dynamics of the African-American market," said Target Market News president, Ken Smikle. "Black consumers are altering their perceptions and habits. Change is being driven by technology, access to information, the political culture, and the Black Lives Matter and Bank Black movements. African-American millennials may be driving the conversation, but the older black population is bringing new convictions and attitudes to the marketplace. These trends need be examined, understood and responded to with new strategies and new ideas."

The Tenth Annual MAAX Awards luncheon will be held Nov. 16th during the Summit.

This year's MAAX Awards luncheon speaker will be Louis Carr, President of Media Sales, Black Entertainment Television. Louis Carr, President of Black Entertainment Television Media Sales, is one of the most influential and prominent African Americans in the media and marketing industries. He has been responsible for more advertising dollars targeted toward the African-American consumer market than any other professional or company.
