Deadline near for 12th Annual Urban Wheel Awards nominations

(October 22, 2007) Nominations are being accepted for the 12th Annual Urban Wheel Awards, a multicultural event that honors diversity during the North American International Auto Show. The world’s most prominent African American, Latino and Asian auto executives, suppliers and dealers vie for these awards, which recognize their commitment to diversity.

Urban Wheel Awards are presented in several categories; including Company and Executive of the Year, Supplier of the Year, Car and Truck of The Year, Diversity in Motorsports, Diversity in Advertising, and, new for 2008, Dealer of The Year.

“The Urban Wheel Awards honor the pioneering automotive industry leaders who transcend the mainstream and embrace diversity to create products and services that appeal to a larger customer base,” says Randi Payton, president & CEO of On Wheels, Inc., the producer of the Urban Wheel Awards. “Like the products they purvey, Urban Wheel Award winners are vehicles for diversifying the automobile industry.”

Administration of the awards program honoring diversity in the automotive industry will be accomplished entirely online for the 2008 awards. Visitors to www.urbanwheelawards.com  will find everything they need to submit nominations, including nomination forms.

The nomination finalists for all categories except Diversity in Advertising are voted on by an independent panel of 15 automotive journalists from multicultural and general market media such as Motorweek, Motor Matters Syndicate, KPIX-TV San Francisco, Automotive News, Automotive Rhythms, Asian Fortune, and the Washington Post.

The deadline for nominations in these categories is Wednesday, Oct. 31, 2007.

Diversity Advertising Awards
Print or television campaigns designed to appeal to the African-American, Asian-American, or Latino markets, launched by October of prior year, must demonstrate a respect for, and sensitivity to, the cultures they are designed to address. The ads must also deliver a compelling message in an effective manner.

To qualify for submissions, print and TV advertising must have run in national media outlets between October 2006 and September 2007.

Separate awards will be presented for each ethnic category. In addition to the award, each winner will be featured in all On Wheels, Inc. publications: African Americans On Wheels, Latinos On Wheels and Asians On Wheels magazines and online at onwheelsinc.com.

A public vote will determine the winners of the Diversity Automotive Advertisement of the Year Award  - Television, a "people's choice" award given to the advertising agencies that produce the most popular print ads geared to African-American, Latino and Asian-American markets. To select their favorite ad, consumers will be encouraged to cast their votes at the Urban Wheel Awards website and Urban Wheel Awards partnering websites.

Completed nomination materials for the Diversity in Advertising Award must be received by 5 PM EST, Monday, December 10, 2007. For more information, call (313) 879-1791.

The Urban Wheel Awards event is produced and hosted by On Wheels, Inc., publishers of African Americans On Wheels, Asians On Wheels and Latinos On Wheels magazines. The 12th Annual Urban Wheel Awards will be held at the Fox Theater on Woodward Avenue in Detroit at 4 p.m. on Jan. 15, 2008.

For more information about the Urban Wheel Awards visit www.urbanwheelawards.com, or call Leonard Corbin at 313-237-6883.
