Cable
Ratings for Week of Oct. 8 - 14
ESPN wins three-way battle for Monday night; Disney is week’s top cable
net (October
17, 2007) ESPN’s “Monday Night Football” again was the most popular show
in black households during the second week of October, but it had to beat
out Monday’s “I Love New York” on VH1 for the title. The NFL match-up
pulled 1.6 million homes, while the reality love match claimed 1.1
million. Also crowding the Monday night field was third place finisher,
VH1’ “Hip-Hop Honors.”
Disney was the week's runaway winner in the most watched cable network
category. It posted 11 shows on the top 25. USA was next closest with six,
while ESPN, TBS, TNT each had two. BET’s “Sunday Best” was that channel’s
only winner.
The total number of black households watching the top 25 shows, according
to Nielsen Media Research, was 17.5 million, 30 percent more than last
week’s total.
