Black TV Ratings for Week of October 8 - 14
TV viewing last week all about competition in politics, sports, music and dancing

(October 16, 2012) The second week of October was all about competition for Black network TV viewers. Battles in politics, football, music, dancing and -- yes -- even baseball dominated the Top 25 chart of most popular shows in Black homes. NFL football was again the No.1 favorite, but baseballís NLCS match-up between the Cardinals and the Giants also made a rare showing on the chart.

Of the 4.8 million Black viewers that watched the Vice Presidential debate, about half tuned in on network TV. African-Americans were about nine percent of the 50 million tuning in to see Biden versus Ryan.

CBS took back the title of most watched TV network, pulling 10.8 million for eights of its shows. NBC dropped to second among networks with 9.8 million for fours programs. ABC fell to third with 6.1 million across five shows.

Nielsen recorded the total number of viewers for the Top 25 shows in Black homes at 36 million -- a decrease of three percent from the previous week.
