Black Cable TV Ratings for Week  Sept. 30 - Oct. 6
Cable viewing among black households still dim compared to network TV favorites

(October 14, 2013) The first week of October belonged more to network television rather than cable, as far as the loyalty of black viewers goes. With new shows drawing their attention, the Top 25 for cable produced only six programs with at least a million viewers. None of the usual leading cable networks was able to mount a solid base of shows on the chart.

VH1 was the most watched among the Top 25, with just 5.6 million across four of its shows. Disney was next with 3.1 million for four shows, while USA network claimed just 2.8 million for three of its offerings.

The total number of viewers for the Top 25 cable programs in black households, according to Nielsen, was actually up nine percent from the previous week to 24.9 million.
