SSN Network and ARISE TV sign distribution agreement for news content carriage

(October 14, 2014) SSN TV and ARISE TV have signed a content agreement that makes SSN a leading source of news and information programming targeting African Americans. The unique agreement will provide for 5 and 1/2 hours of co-branded news programs daily on the network's broadcast platform. SSN reaches 40 million over the air households and 7 million cable households.

Earlier this month, SSN announced it had gained distribution in nine of the top ten African American DMAs, including carriage on FiOS in NYC, parts of NJ and on the primary channel of its full power, must-carry television affiliate, WMDE located in Washington DC. WMDE's coverage extends to Baltimore, MD and Northern Virginia.

"We look forward to this exciting collaboration with SSN TV," said Nduka Obaigbena, Chairman, ARISE TV, "and working together to build an unrivaled information platform that reflects an evolving political order and the modern way news is consumed. This deal provides us a vitally important presence in the U.S. broadcast market, and gives SSN viewers a never before available perspective on the news beyond their own shores. This is a win-win for all involved."

ARISE TV is an emerging 24-hour news and content company with a diverse team of over 500 world-class journalists offering perspectives seldom given airtime. It maintains broadcast hubs in London, New York, Johannesburg, South Africa and Lagos, Nigeria.

"This deal personifies our commitment to news and information programming," added Doug McHenry, CEO of SSN TV. "SSN now has the most diverse lineup of programming offered in our competitive space."

Beginning October 27th, SSN and ARISE NEWS programs will air at the following times (all times Eastern):

SSN/ARISE AMERICA, Weekdays @ 6:00pm; DC Breakdown, Weekdays @ 7:00pm; SSN Evening News, Weekdays @ 8:00pm; ARISE NEWS NOW, Weekdays @ 1:00am; ARISE REVIEW, Sundays @ 12:00pm.
