Sherman Kizart appointed to FCC's Committee on Diversity in Digital Age
(October 6, 2011) Sherman K. Kizart, founder and managing director of Kizart Media Partners, Inc., has been appointed to serve on the FCC's re-chartered Federal Advisory Committee on Diversity in the Digital Age. The invitation came from the Honorable Julius Genachowski, Chairman of the Federal Communications Commission (FCC). The Diversity Committee gives recommendations to the FCC regarding policies and practices that will further enhance diversity in the industries the commission regulates.
The Diversity Committee focuses on creating an environment that enables employment of a diverse workforce in the media, telecommunications and related fields; exploring ways to ensure universal access to broadband; and establishing the widest possible dissemination of information from diverse media sources. Sherman Kizart will be joining other members on the committee including Debra Lee, Chairman of BET Holdings, Inc.; Robert Mendez, SVP, Diversity at ABC Television Network; and Marc Morial, CEO of the National Urban League.
Kizart Media Partners, Inc. (KMP, Inc.) is a national media sales and marketing consulting firm headquartered in Chicago, Illinois. Sherman Kizart was selected for the appointment based upon his experience in the media and telecom industry. He serves as an urban sales and marketing expert to some of the leading advocacy organizations in the U.S. Prior to founding KMP, Inc., Kizart worked for Interep, Inc. as senior vice president and director of urban radio.
Kizart Media Partners recently hosted its 11th Power of Urban Radio Forum in partnership with the National Association of Black Owned Broadcasters in Washington DC. Executives responsible for planning and placing more than $50 Billion in measured media attended including advertising agency media directors, global media agency planners, and chief marketing officers of major corporations. Neil Golden, CMO for McDonald's USA delivered the keynote address.
Kizart was also recently named Multicultural Entrepreneur of the Week by the Minority Media and Telecommunications Council. Others who have received this honor include Michele Ebanks, President of Essence Communications, Inc.; John H. Johnson, founder of EBONY and JET magazines; Jerry Yang, the co-founder and former CEO of Yahoo Inc. and Cathy Hughes founder of Radio One. A graduate of the University of Mississippi, Kizart has additionally been appointed Chairman of the Corporate Outreach and Strategic Media Partnerships Committee for Kappa Alpha Psi Fraternity, Inc.
