CBS regains most watched network title thanks to NFL's Broncos-Packers game
(October 5, 2011) After being sacked last week by Fox, CBS crushed its competition for the distinction of having the most black viewers during the last week of September. It owes that win to the 5.8 million black viewers of the Denver Broncos-Green Bay Packers football game that started Sunday afternoon, but ended in primetime.
Added to its usual lineup of popular offerings, the NFL game gave CBS a whopping 21.6 million black viewers for 11 shows on the Top 25. The second network of the week was NBC with 10.3 million for five of its shows. ABC had 8.3 million watchers for six of its programs.
The Top 25 shows had a three percent drop in total viewers over the previous week for a total of 44.8 million, according to Nielsen.
