TV One's total audience approaching 23 million households
(October
5, 2005) TV One finished third quarter with a number of new system
launches, adding more than one million households in September, which
brings the network's subscriber total to nearly 23 million households. TV One recently launched on Bright House Networks' Tampa system; Comcast's Miami, Vero Beach, FL and Ft. Wayne, IN systems; Time Warner Cable systems in Kansas City, Raleigh/Durham and Wilmington, NC; Cox Communications systems in Humboldt, CA and Russellville, AR; Charter's California City, CA system; and Mid-Continent's system in Minot, ND. "We are gratified with the strong, broad-based support TV One continues to receive from the affiliate community and their subscribers," said TV One Executive Vice President of Affiliate Sales and Marketing Brad Samuels. "Our target audience is responding enthusiastically to the channel and we're enjoying great success with our launch marketing efforts, helping our affiliates reach out to an underserved audience and achieve their subscriber growth goals." tighter economic times, African-American households are significantly
increasing their expenditures on consumer electronics for the home,
according to the newest edition of The Buying Power of Black America
report. In many categories such as video games, televisions, CD players,
cable TV service and sound equipment, black households are spending more
on average than their white counterparts. According to the 103-page report, black households had $656 billion in earned income in 2003, an increase of 3.9% over the $631 earned in 2002.
