TV Ratings for Week of Sept. 24 - 30
CBS’s ‘Without A Trace’ takes the No.1 spot by winning the battle for Thursday night

(October 3, 2007) CBS pulled off an upset by taking the top spot for the week’s most popular shows in black households. “Without A Trace” beat out NBC’s “Sunday Night Football” and ABC’s “Grey’s Anatomy” and claimed victory in the week’s most contested time slot, Thursday night. It got help from its lead-in show, “CSI,” which took fourth place.

”Cane” was the most popular of the new offerings that made the chart, finishing in the top ten. “Bionic Woman” and “Private Practice” also drew first-time viewers. “K-Ville” dropped to 18th place and lost about a half million households from it debut the previous week.

CBS, with ten shows among the top 25, was the week’s winning network. ABC followed with seven, NBC with five.  Fox had two and the CW scored one.

The total number of black households watching the top 25 during the last week of September was 32.5 million, or a whopping 21 percent increase over the previous week’s total of 27 million.
