TV One signs “The 2
Live Stews” and George Willborn to host new shows
(September
24, 2007) TV One has signed popular syndicated sports radio hosts, Doug
and Ryan Stewart, otherwise known as “The 2 Live Stews,” to host season
two of Black Men Revealed, the series that brings together males from all
walks of life to frankly discuss and often explode the myths and truths
surrounding black men.. Atlanta-based brothers Doug and Ryan Stewart bring a fresh approach to sports radio with high energy interviews with the hottest athletes and celebrities and interesting topics that bring something new to the ‘old school’ sports talk format. The Stews have been named by Sports Illlustrated as the #1 Sports Radio Show in America. Their popular afternoon radio program is syndicated in 23 markets and airs nationally on XM Satellite Radio Channel 169 The Power. “We think The 2 Live Stews will bring an exciting new dimension to ‘Black Men Revealed.’ It will be a fun and interesting opportunity for these two brothers to mix it up and move outside the sports arena’” said TV One Executive Vice President of Programming and Production Rose Catherine Pinkney. In Black Men Revealed, each week brothers of various ages, educational backgrounds, and economic strata come together around a game of dominoes, and toast to telling nothing but the truth about the facts, the fiction and everything in between that defines and drives black men. From “Why do wedding bells make us want to run?” to “Are brothers choosing cool over school?” to “Why some black men say white women are right for them,” these guys eventually leave no relevant topic untouched. But lest things get too serious, the 2 Live Stews will keep it light and keep the conversation moving among a unique group of talkers each week, a few of whom may be familiar faces. Simply put, black men are a hot topic, the oft-debated subject of urban myths and conventional wisdom. They have been examined by academia, pilloried and lionized by their own community leaders; profiled racially by law enforcement; profiled personally by news media; and analyzed and discussed in great detail by black women. “We really love this show because Black Men Revealed gives viewers the chance to hear it all for themselves firsthand, and gain a better understanding into just what motivates and shapes this diverse group of individuals.” Black Men Revealed is an eight-episode, one-hour series, produced for TV One by MacVision, Another Bright Idea Entertainment and King Artist Management. Executive producers are Monique Chenault and Alex Chenault from MacVision, Greg Shelton from Another Bright Idea and Marcus King of King Artist Management. The second season of the series is slated to premiere on TV One in first quarter 2008. TV One also announced a new original series that will premiere in second quarter 2008, Family Reunion (wt), which is part reality, part competition, part drama and lots of laughs. Each one-hour episode will be filled with heart, familial teamwork, and the comedy and drama that can only arise when far-flung families gather together for that cultural institution that is the traditional Black Family Reunion. Each episode will introduce a new family chock full of compelling stories, portrayed through the prism of the Family Reunion. Each family will undertake a specially designed TV One competitive challenge during the reunion, and two lucky families will face off at the season’s end in a special grand prize challenge, with the winning family receiving cash and prizes to use for their next family reunion. The series is hosted by Bill Bellamy’s Who’s Got Jokes? season one winner and Michael Baisden radio and Baisden After Dark co-hort comedian George Willborn, Family Reunion is produced for TV One by Strange Fruit Productions. Executive producers are D’Angela Steed and Nia Hill. “At TV One, we are ever attuned to portraying the breadth and depth of African American culture,” Pinkney said. Our Family Reunion series, like all of our original series, is uniquely Black. We expect our audience to love it every bit as much as we do.” Go to Target Market News homepage |
