Black TV Ratings for Week of September 21 - 27
'Empire,' 'Rosewood,' 'Scandal, and 'Murder' push Sunday Night Football
to No.4
(September
29, 2015) The season debut of Fox's historic hit "Empire" again knocked the
former perennial No.1 show, NBC's "Sunday Night Football" out of first
place on the Top 25 chart. But the hip-hop drama wasn't along. This season a fourth show joins
with ABCs "Scandal" and "How To Get Away with Murder" as tacklers of the
NFL. Fox's new crime drama, "Rosewood," starring Morris Chestnut,
debuted as the week's No.2 with 4.3 million black viewers and pushed
football to fourth place.
CBS continued its reign as the most watched TV network in black
households, posting a total of 15.9 million viewers across ten shows on
the top 25 chart. NBC followed with 13.5 million for eight shows. ABC
was third with 10.9 million for five shows.
The total number of viewers for the Top 25 shows in black homes,
according to Nielsen, was up 7.3 percent over the previous week to 55.8
million.
