Interep launches scholarship with NABOB for HBCU students (Sept 27, 2005) Interep has announced that it will institute an annual Interep/NABOB scholarship to be awarded to a communications or broadcasting student attending one of the nation's historically black colleges and universities. The announcement was made by Interep President and COO, George Pine, at the 29th Annual National Association of Black Owned Broadcasters (NABOB) Fall Conference in Washington D.C. last week. During an Interep-sponsored reception at the conference, Pine commented, “We would like to take this opportunity to reassert Interep's commitment to the Urban community, and expand our support of African-American broadcasters. With this scholarship, we hope to help foster the next generation of multi-cultural industry leaders.” He continued, “Interep has always been a strong supporter of NABOB, and counts many of the organization's members as long-standing partners and clients, including Inner City Broadcasting, Access One, Carter Broadcasting Group and Sheridan Broadcasting.” This year's scholarship will go to a student attending Florida A&M University, one of the leading historically black colleges and universities in the country. NABOB will announce the recipient of the award in the next few weeks. Go to Target Market News homepage |
