Black Cable TV Ratings for Week of September 17 - 23
Black cable viewers surf the dial in search of new and different shows

(September 27, 2012) For the third week of September, prime time cable viewing in Black households was spread across a variety of interests. Football had its usual No.1 ranking, but no network was dominant in capturing Black viewers.

TV One's Rickey Smiley show (pictured) placed on the Top 25 for the first time, while the OWN network failed to sustain its good showing of last week. The NFL network (still featuring replacement officials) made its debut on the chart, MSNBC placed two shows in the growing tension of the Presidential election.

The TBS network pulled 4.1 million across four shows, including Tyler Perry's For Better or Worse. VH1 more or less tied that performance with 4.0 million for four shows. USA claimed 3.0 million for three WWE Entertainment programs.

The total audience for the Top 25 cable shows, according to Nielsen, was down four percent from the previous week to 24 million.
