Black TV Ratings for Week of September 16 - 22
CBS recaptures advantage with black audiences as new TV season launches

(September 25, 2013) CBS, America's most watched TV network, jumped back into the lead during the third full week of September, thanks to the loyalty of black households. It had a 54% increase in black viewership over the previous week for its Top 25 shows.

It didn't hurt that CBS posted its first prime time NFL game for the regular season, which gave it the No.1 spot on the chart with 3.5 million viewers. And the finale of the summer hit, Under The Dome, had its usual one million-plus black audience.

CBS racked up 11.9 million viewers across 10 of its shows to take back the most watched TV network title. NBC was second with 8.9 million for five of its shows. ABC was third, posting 5.9 million for seven shows on the Top 25.

The total number of viewers for the Top 25 shows in black homes, according to Nielsen, was 30.5 million, or 13 percent more than the previous week.
