TV One names Tonia Lee vice president of business operations & strategy

(September 21, 2011) TV One has named Tonia Lee Vice President of Business Operations and Strategy. In this position, she will support President and CEO Wonya Lucas in managing day-to-day operations and strategic planning, as well as oversee business development and partnerships that expand reach and generate revenue across cable network and digital properties.

Since 2009, Ms. Lee has been President and CEO of You Never Know Ventures, a boutique consultancy providing strategic planning, digital strategy and marketing, business development, business planning and operations services, among others, to consumer-oriented sectors including television, Internet and financial services.

Before launching the consultancy, Ms. Lee was Vice President and Senior Project Leader of New Products for Turner Broadcasting System, where she was responsible for leading innovation processes to diversify Turner Broadcasting's branded content portfolio beyond traditional cable networks to include digital media (broadband, mobile, social media). Prior to joining Turner in 2006, Ms. Lee was Director of Corporate Development and Director of Technology Strategy and Development for The Weather Channel Companies.

"Tonia is a results-oriented executive who has unique abilities that will help me make sure we maximize efficiency, work together optimally as a team and achieve our short-term goals, while not losing sight of our long-term goals and the need to stay focused on changing industry trends and the future of the business," said TV One President and CEO Wonya Lucas. "Having worked with her previously, I know she will make a strong addition to the TV One executive team."

Before joining the cable industry in 2002, Ms. Lee worked in the financial services industry, where she was Vice President and Senior Equity Research Analyst with global investment bank RBC Capital Markets, and prior to that, an Equity Research Associate with Morgan Stanley Smith Barney. She began her financial services career in Global Transaction Services with Citibank.

She is a graduate of the University of Pennsylvania with a B.A. in International Relations and The Wharton School at The University of Pennsylvania with an M.B.A. in Finance. She has also completed the NAMIC Executive Leadership Development Program at The Anderson School at UCLA.
