REACH Media names Javier Luevano senior vice president of finance (Sept. 19, 2005) REACH Media Inc., a multimedia company founded by radio personality Tom Joyner, today announced Javier Luevano as the newest member of its management team. Luevano, with more than 20 years of experience in finance and accounting, joins REACH Media Inc. as Vice President, Finance and will be responsible for overseeing the day-to-day accounting functions of REACH Media Inc. and their subsidiaries. Javier will report to Marla Bane, Senior Vice President, Operations & Finance. "We are delighted to have Javier join REACH and our Finance Department," Bane said. "With his background and experience, he will be a great asset to our organization and provide us with some much needed assistance as REACH continues to grow and expand." Prior to REACH Media, Luevano worked for Border Media Partners (BMP)/Amigo Broadcasting LLP where he served as Chief Financial Officer under Amigo Broadcasting and as a Senior Financial Advisor since Border acquired Amigo last December. BMP currently owns and operates 34 radio stations in six Texas markets. Prior to that, Javier served as the Chief Financial Officer for Espanol.com in Boston and three years as a Senior Manager in Corporate Finance for Dell Computers in Austin. 11th Annual Edition Available 'Buying Power' report reveals surge by black households for consumer electronics Despite
tighter economic times, African-American households are significantly
increasing their expenditures on consumer electronics for the home,
according to the newest edition of The Buying Power of Black America
report. In many categories such as video games, televisions, CD players,
cable TV service and sound equipment, black households are spending more
on average than their white counterparts. According to the 103-page report, black households had $656 billion in earned income in 2003, an increase of 3.9% over the $631 earned in 2002.
