THE LATEST NEWS
Keith Clinkscales named SVP of newly formed ESPN publishing division

(Sept. 19, 2005) ESPN announced today that Keith Clinkscales has joined the company as Senior Vice President and General Manager of ESPN Publishing.  In this new role, Clinkscales is responsible for all operations of the award-winning ESPN The Magazine, domestically and internationally; ESPN Books; and all new publishing related business initiatives. These businesses are now joined under a new, formal ESPN Publishing division.

Since March, Clinkscales, formerly President and CEO of VIBE Magazine, has been working as a consultant on a variety of projects for ESPN ABC Sports’ new integrated multimedia sales organization.

"As a catalyst and accomplished leader in the magazine industry, we are thrilled to have Keith on board to drive ESPN Publishing and our brand to new heights,” said Geoff Reiss, Senior Vice President and General Manager of ESPN Consumer Products, to whom Clinkscales will report.

ESPN The Magazine, winner of the 2003 National Magazine Award for General Excellence, recently celebrated its seventh anniversary. ESPN The Magazine is continuing to expand its audience, launching a Spanish-language edition, ESPN Deportes, in July, and successfully publishing an edition in China since January.

Prior to joining ESPN, Clinkscales launched and served as Chairman and CEO of Vanguarde Media from 1999-2003, publishing HONEY, Heart & Soul and Savoy magazines.  While with Vanguarde, he managed the growth of publications to reach more than 1.2 million in paid circulation, with a total reach of more than five million.

Clinkscales also served as President and CEO of VIBE Magazine from 1993-1999. He also served as co-founder, publisher and editor in chief for Urban Profile from 1988-1992.

A magna cum laude graduate of Florida A&M University, Clinkscales is also a Harvard MBA; serves as Treasurer of the Apollo Theater Foundation Board of Trustees; and is an Academic Director for the Stanford Professional Publishing Course. Clinkscales is also a member of PepsiCo’s Multicultural Advisory Board and of Young Presidents’ Organization.
