Black TV Ratings for Week of Sept. 5 - 11
Football games more than double the week's number of black TV viewers

(September 13, 2011) Backed by additional promotion to reassure fans that football was indeed back, the NFL season began with record-setting audience numbers among black households. Half of the total viewers for last week's Top 25 shows were from football games, pre- and post-game shows.

NBC, which featured a double-header, was the week's big winner. With 25.3 million black viewers for 12 of its broadcasts, it was the most watched network of the week. Fox has to settle for second place with 12.4 million tuning in just four of its program that made the chart. CBS ended up in a rare third with 6.7 million for seven shows.

The total number of viewers watching the Top 25 most popular TV shows in black homes, according to Nielsen, was 47.2 million. That's a whopping 129% increase over the previous week's total.
