E. Morris
Communications announces promotion of long-time staff members
(September 14, 2006) The Chicago-based E. Morris
Communications, Inc. (EMC) recently announced the promotion of several of
its senior staff members.
Deborah Easton
was promoted from creative supervisor to associate creative director. Ms.
Easton joined EMC in 1996 and has developed outstanding and award-winning
creative for a number of clients, past and present, including Hefty,
Oldsmobile, American Family Insurance and more recently, Tyson Foods.
Andre Fair was promoted from controller to vice president,
controller. Mr. Fair joined EMC in May of 1997 as an accountant, and
rapidly and adeptly demonstrated skills to multi-task in all areas of the
agency’s operations.
Sheila Gordon
was promoted from director to vice president of human resources. Ms.
Gordon joined EMC in September of 2000 as the agency’s HR Manager and
quickly established herself as knowledgeable and well respected in her
field. She is a valued member of the agency’s management team and makes
contributions in all areas of its operations. In June, she was featured in
Who’s Who in Black Chicago, the nation’s largest directory targeted to
influential and affluent African Americans, which highlights significant
achievements African Americans have contributed to America.
Mr. Fair and Ms. Gordon are now EMC’s youngest vice
presidents, and the agency seeks to continue to grow and develop its
entire staff for long-tenured careers in advertising and communications.
“I have always worked hard to make EMC be a place where people are happy
to come and work each day,” said Chairman and CEO Eugene Morris. “EMC has
a wealth of talented individuals that embody the spirit of teamwork,
innovation and excellence that seek to deliver the best work for our
clients. I appreciate the years of service each employee continues to
invest in the agency.”
EMC is a full service agency that provides integrated marketing
communications services to multicultural markets, with emphasis on the
African-American consumer segment. The 18-year-old agency has a client
roster that includes Wal-Mart Stores, Inc., Tyson Foods, American Family
Insurance and the Illinois Department of Transportation.

'Buying Power' report shows black consumers spending more on home life
As the American economy continues to move sluggishly,
African-American households are curtailing their spending in many
categories, including food, clothing and basic household items, while
investing more in home repair, home entertainment and consumer
electronics. Although they are trimming back, black consumers are still
spending more than their white counterparts on most of these products.
