George Lottier, head of GMSDC and husband of Atlanta Tribune publisher, dies

(September 14, 2007) George Lottier, husband of Atlanta Tribune Magazine publisher, Pat Lottier, passed away on Thursday, Sept. 13 at the age of 53.

Lottier was president and CEO of the Georgia Minority Supplier Development Council for the past seven years, and served more than 20 years on its board. As president, he was an expert on certification, facilitated relationships between the corporate community and small business owners and was a champion of MBE/corporate partnership.

A business icon, Lottier also served as president of Plastic Impressions, the first African-American-owned brokerage firm specializing in the production of plastic cups. He was also president and CEO of Gemini Plastics and was national product manager for the James River Corporation.

Prior to joining GMSDC, Lottier held the position of operations and systems manager of Atlanta Tribune, where he focused on developing strategic business plans, managing networks and creating communications systems.

He was also a member of the boards of the Atlanta Tribune and Atlanta Technical College.

Lottier was a graduate of Baltimore City College and attended Morgan State University.

He is survived by his widow Pat, and two sons, Christopher and Dr. Shawn Lottier. He is also survived by four sisters Virginia Parham (Richard) of Atlanta; June Powell (Ronald), Sadie Lottier and Deborah Stafford (Guy), and one brother, David Lottier (Lucretia), all of Baltimore.

In lieu of flowers, the family humbly requests donations be made to the George A. Lottier Golf Foundation in care of: Citizens Trust Bank, 75 Piedmont Ave., Atlanta, GA 30303; 678.406.4000.

The funeral will be held on Saturday, September 15, 2007, at 1 p.m. at the Roswell Funeral Home, 950 Mansell Road, Roswell, GA 30076; 770.993.4811.
