Interactive One launches Zona De Sabor, its second Latino digital media platform

(September 12, 2012) Digital media leader Interactive One expands its Latino market influence with the launch of Zona de Sabor, an entertainment news website targeting young, urban Latino Americans. ZonadeSabor.com is a complement to MiGente.com, Interactive One's social media site targeting the same demographic, and serves up the hottest music, television, film and fashion news for acculturated Latinos.

Interactive One was launched by Radio One, Inc. in 2008 to complement Radio One's existing portfolio of media companies targeting Black Americans. Since its launch, Interactive One has quickly become the top rated online platform for the African American community.

"We've built a reputation for launching new websites and growing established ones through our work with brands like HelloBeautiful.com, TheUrbanDaily.com, American Airlines' BlackAtlas.com and NBC News' TheGrio.com," said Tom Newman, President, Interactive One. "Zona de Sabor extends our reach in the growing Latino community allowing us to provide our advertisers with more avenues to connect with minority audiences."

Zona de Sabor will serve as a Latino news hub, joining an expanding family of websites known as category leaders. Interactive One's portfolio of sites increased 12 percent since 2011 to reach 7.6 million total unique visitors according to comScore's July 2012 Total Universe report.  Over the last 12 months Interactive One has gained an additional 3.1 million users and the company now delivers 138 percent more reach than its closest competitor.

"Zona de Sabor will report daily lifestyle and entertainment stories through an authentic cultural lens," said Smokey Fontaine, Chief Content Officer, Interactive One.  "With experience targeting Black Americans at a capacity unparalleled by our competitors, we are uniquely positioned to deliver relevant content in a distinctive voice to the largest minority group in the nation. Zona de Sabor readers can count on us as a daily destination for their entertainment news."

In addition to original content, Zona de Sabor will partner with its various sister sites including NewsOne.com, TheUrbanDaily.com and HelloBeautiful.com on articles and video.
