‘House of Payne’ returns to No.1; BET and Disney share week’s top cable
network (September
13, 2007) TBS was able to laugh its way back to the top of the most
popular cable shows with black households, thanks to the new, rock solid
popularity of “House of Payne” The show took first and second place for
the first week of September, and was the only program to attract over one
million black households.
School may back in session, but young viewers still pushed BET and Disney
into a tie for No.1 with seven shows each on the chart. TBS logged three
shows. All other networks posted two shows each.
The total number of black households watching the top 25 cable shows,
according to Nielsen Media Research, was 15.3 million, a drop of 26
percent over the previous week.
