Black TV Ratings for Week of September 2 - 8
NFL signals official beginning of Fall TV season with millions of black viewers watching

(September 10, 2013) Labor Day's over and things are getting back to normal -- in other words, football. Network television viewing by black households was all about the return of the NFL season. The only gridiron-based show that didn't get at least a million black viewers was Wednesday's Football Night in America on NBC. The first seven winners on the Top 25 TV chart were game-related broadcasts.

NBC knocked CBS from its perch of perennial top network. NBC had 16.2 million -- mostly football crazed -- viewers across eight of its shows on the Top 25. CBS was the second most watched network with 7.7 million black viewers for nine of its shows. Fox took third with 6.4 million for five of its most popular shows.

The total number of black viewers for the 25 favorite shows of the week, according to Nielsen, was 36 million. That's an increase of 84 percent above the previous week.
