Black TV Ratings for Week of Aug. 31 - Sept. 6
'The Carmichael Show,' NBC's summer winner, reaches No.1 with black viewers in second week

(September 9, 2015) NBC has found a long-needed success with black audiences with the summer comedy, "The Carmichael Show." The show's Wednesday night premiere on Aug. 26 featured back-to-back episodes, both of which pulled one million-plus black viewers. The show repeated that performance in the first week of September, giving star, writer and executive producer Jerrod Carmichael (pictured) a solid hit.

CBS held on to the title of the week's most watched TV network, with 6.9 million viewers across nine shows on the Top 25 chart. NBC fortunes were lifted by "The Carmichael Show," with 5.3 million watching six of its shows. ABC followed closely in third place among networks with 5.1 million for eight of its programs.

The total of viewers for the Top 25 shows in black households, according to Nielsen, was up 9.4% over the previous week to 18.6 million.
