Black Cable TV Ratings for Week of Aug. 29 - Sept. 4
Cable also sees huge drop in black viewers for Labor Day week; TBS most watched net

(September 8, 2011) The last summer weekend took its toll on cable viewing in black households just as it did TV audiences. The Top 25 cable chart shows nine shows with at least a million viewers -- more than twice the same number for broadcast TV. Sport-themed programs like VH1's "Basketball Wives" and TBS's Tyler Perry library were the big beneficiaries.

The most watched cable network title goes to TBS for attracting 7.2 million for eight shows on the chart. VH1 followed with 4.6 million for just four shows. Disney 2.7 million young viewers for three programs for third place.

The total number of viewers for the Top 25 shows in black households, according to Nielsen, was down a whopping 21 percent from the previous week to 23.7 million.
