Black TV Ratings for Week of Aug. 29 - Sept. 4
TV viewing for Labor Day weekend in black homes mirrors last years' level

(Sept. 7, 2011) The economy may be causing households to re-examine their choices for leisure time activities, but when it comes to the un-official last holiday weekend of the summer, watching TV was not high on the list. With audience numbers steadily climbing the last couple of weeks, black viewers elected to do something that didn't involve a couch and a remote control. Only four programs had a million viewers or more.

CBS was the most watched TV network, with nine million viewers for 11 of its shows on the Top 25. NBC followed in distant second place with 4.2 million watching six of its programs. ABC narrowly edged out Fox for third place with 3.7 million for just four shows.

Nielsen recorded a total audience of 20.6 million black viewers for the Top 25, representing a drop of nine percent from the previous week.
