Cafe Mocha Radio marks second year in syndication with six new
affiliates
(September 5, 2012) Miles Ahead Broadcasting is pleased to announce
that Cafe Mocha Radio continues to expand its market reach with the
addition of Washington, DC's WHUR 96.3 FM, Richmond, VA's Radio One WKJS/WKJM-FM
Columbus, Georgia's WKZJ 92.7 FM, Brunswick GA WBGA/B92.7 Jams', KZWA-FM
in Lake Charles, LA and KKST-FM Alexandria, LA.
Cafe Mocha Radio will increase its audience and hold the distinction of
being the only syndicated show to air across the entire WHUR Network
experience that includes WHUR's SiriusXM, HUR Voices channel 141, WHUR-World
HD and the new Saturday morning slot on WHUR 96.3FM.
The nation's only show for women of color made its debut on the Davis
Broadcasting station WKZJ 92.7 in Columbus, Georgia in May where it has
fast-become a Saturday afternoon staple. Says WKZJ Operations Manager
Carl Conner, "We're looking for Cafe Mocha to enhance our appeal among
female listeners with its fresh, relatable content, exclusive
entertainment coverage and localized news segments."
"I was immediately intrigued by the concept of Cafe Mocha being from a
female perspective, so when I first heard MC Lyte, funny lady Loni Love
and Angelique bring their own brand of entertainment and news together I
knew my female listeners would be hooked," says Yolanda Neely, Program
Director at WBGA/B92.7Jams.
In addition to bringing on affiliates in Norfolk, VA and Memphis, TN
earlier in the year, Cafe Mocha remains on New York City's WBLS 107.5 FM
following its merger with WRKS 98.7 FM. The show has enjoyed top
ratings in its weekend time slot with both male and female demographics
thanks to PPM-friendly new features "Espresso" minute, the "Swag Award"
and the "Lyte Mix".
Recent Cafe Mocha specials include backstage exclusives with the cast of
Steve Harvey's Think Like a Man, Live at the 2012 Essence Music
Festival, Backstage at the Soul Man wrap party with Cedric the
Entertainer and Niecy Nash, and Behind the Screen with the cast of the
highly-anticipated film Sparkle. These exclusive entertainment segments,
coupled with localized news updates, have been the catalyst for Cafe
Mocha's rapid new market additions that rival only that of Steve Harvey
and Rickey Smiley's nationally syndicated morning shows, respectively.
Upcoming fall promotions include a "Girlfriends" retreat in the Bahamas
and women's empowerment seminars. "As a show led by women our goal is
to make sure we deliver relevant, fun and unique content with promotions
that empower our sisters," says executive producer Sheila Eldridge.
