Lagrant Communications marks 16th anniversary with expansion to Nashville

(Sept. 5, 2006) Los Angeles based Lagrant Communications (LC) celebrates the grand opening of its new Nashville, Tennessee office and the success of 16 years in business.  Since 1990, the award-winning LC has earned a reputation for developing creative, innovative solutions for clients seeking to reach the multicultural consumer markets.

LC’s move to Nashville, Tennessee comes amid the relocation of long time client Nissan North America and the firm’s commitment to provide regional support to its nearby American Airlines account in Dallas, Texas.  As the most livable place in America, Nashville will be the first office outside of LC’s home base in Los Angeles.

“After 16 years in business, I would have never thought of opening an office in Nashville, TN,” said LC president and founder, Kim L. Hunter (above). “Everyone and myself included thought I would have opened a New York office given I am there twice a month.  But the reality is agencies go where their clients are—Nissan relocated their North American operation from Los Angeles and we have had the account for 11 years.”

To staff the Nashville office, LC has hired Teisha-Vonique Hood, who will serve as senior account executive and will be responsible for the day-to-day account management of both the Nissan and American Airlines accounts.

Teisha joins LC with outstanding credentials having worked for Burson-Marstellar in New York, one of the world’s top five PR firms.  She was also a producer for KFCD-AM 990 AM and a news associate for SMU-TV Channel 6 in Dallas. Teisha has two undergraduate degrees from Southern Methodist University—Bachelor of Business Administration in Marketing and Bachelor of Arts in Corporate Communications and Public Affairs with honors distinction.  In addition, she holds a Master of Business Administration from Texas A&M University-Commerce.

Some of the firm’s current clients include Harley-Davidson, Verizon, Deloitte, American Airlines, Novartis, Amgen, Macy’s, Southern California Edison, California Lottery, Talbert Medical Group, American Cancer Society, Office of National Drug Control and Policy (ONDCP), among others.

Latest 'Buying Power' report shows black consumers spending more on home life

As the American economy continues to move sluggishly, African-American households are curtailing their spending in many categories, including food, clothing and basic household items, while investing more in home repair, home entertainment and consumer electronics. Although they are trimming back, black consumers are still spending more than their white counterparts on most of these products.
