Black TV Ratings for Week of August 15 - 21
It's still summer, but football's scoring high with black TV viewers

(August 23, 2011) The NFL is back, and its popularity is as strong as ever with black audiences. The pre-season games which aired on NBC and Fox improved their overall numbers over last year and set the stage for perhaps even larger audiences if NBA basketball is delayed.

Fox has football to thank for being the most watched TV network in black households last week. It pulled in 11.4 million black viewers for 10 of its shows. CBS followed in a rare second place with 8.2 million watching 10 of its Top 25  programs. NBC finished third with five million for four shows.

According to Nielsen statistics, 25.5 million tuned in the Top 25 shows, for an increase of 12.5 percent over the previous week.
