Johnson Publishing Co. names Kierna Mayo Editorial Director, Digital for Ebony

(August 22, 2011) Johnson Publishing Company, LLC has appointed Kierna Mayo Editorial Director, Digital for EBONY Magazine. As Editorial Director, Mayo will work with Editor-in-Chief Amy DuBois Barnett on shaping the content and direction of and developing brand presence across digital platforms. Mayo assumes her post today.

Mayo comes to EBONY from Bankable Enterprises where she served as Editorial Director of, Tyra Banks' young women's magazine. For over 20 years she has written for magazines including Essence, Marie Claire, Glamour, Seventeen, Vibe and Uptown. Mayo is also the co-founder and founding Editor-in-Chief of Honey magazine.

Mayo is a graduate of Hampton University where she received her BA in Mass Media Arts.
