Black TV Ratings for Week of August 3 - 9
NFL pre-season game runs over summer fare with black audiences ready for football
(August 11, 2015) A sure sign that summer is close to an end is the return on NBC’s Sunday Night Football in pre-season form. While no other TV shows were able to garner at least one million black viewers, the NFL proved that the gridiron appetite is alive and well nearly 1.9 million tuning in. The Vikings beat the Steelers 14-3 in the Hall of Fame Game.
Thanks to the NFL, NBC edged out the competition for most watched TV network of the week, with 7.6 million watching eight of shows on the Top25 chart. CBS claimed 6.5 million for nine of its show, while ABC settled for third with 3.3 million across five programs.
The total number of viewers for the most popular shows in black households, according to Nielsen, was up less than one percent over the previous week to 19.8 million.
