The
Week of August 7 - 13
For second
consecutive week, ‘Flavor of Love 2' tops black cable viewing chart
(August 17, 2006) According to Nielsen Media Research, VH1’s “Flavor of
Love 2” reality series was again the number one cable show with black
households during the second week of August. The program was the one entry
on the top 25 list to attract at least 1 million households.
While USA’s WWE had its usual near-the-top finish, MTV’s ”Nick Cannon’s
Wild ‘N Out” jumped to a rare number three showing for the week. The
overall winner among the cable networks was BET, which garnered eight
entries on the top 25. The next best showing came in a three-way tie with
MTV, TNT and USA claiming four each.
The total number of black households watching the top 25 cable shows was
15.9 million, a nearly five percent increase over the previous week.

'Buying Power' report shows black consumers spending more on home life
As the American economy continues to move sluggishly,
African-American households are curtailing their spending in many
categories, including food, clothing and basic household items, while
investing more in home repair, home entertainment and consumer
electronics. Although they are trimming back, black consumers are still
spending more than their white counterparts on most of these products.
