Black Cable TV Ratings for Week July 21 - 27
Summer cable viewing by black households gives boost to all networks

(August 6, 2014) With the Summer season half over, cable networks are enjoying some of the best ratings ever. Channels such as BET, VH1, and OWN that offer programming for African Americans are seeing especially good numbers. Five of the Top 25 cable channels had at least one show that drew a million or more black viewers.

VH1 was the most watched cable net in black homes during the last week of July. It posted a combined 7.2 million viewers for three of shows. OWN followed with 5.5 million across five programs, while BET claimed 4.1 million for four of its top slots.

The total number of black viewers for all Top 25 shows increased 40 percent over the previous week to 27.6 million.
